Roll Backwards, Roll Better. Roll Backstrap.

In 2019, the idea for Backstrap, a rolling paper company, was born out of my 15-year experience with cannabis. Recognizing the cultural richness and flavor-enhancing potential of the inside-out rolling technique, I decided to invest my time and resources into creating and selling rolling papers. Little did I know the journey that awaited me!

Alongside launching BackStrap, I embarked on a four-year study of psychotherapy. This pursuit led me to engage in self-development, confronting my addictions, systems, and cycles that perpetuated self-annihilation, anxiety, insecurity, and a lack of self-worth. It allowed me to identify the patterns I fell into and the escape routes I sought from those vulnerable spaces. With awareness came the opportunity to investigate, nurture, and find new ways to self-actualize, uncovering parts of myself previously unknown and strengthening my confidence through small steps toward self-parenting.

The Role of Cannabis when Self-Reflection Lacks

Cannabis had been my means of escape, numbing, soothing, and dissociating. However, I began to hear others share how it enhanced their creativity, artistic expression, and enjoyment of activities like music, painting, cooking, dance, movie and photography. Curiosity arose: and I asked the question “was it the product or the environment that influenced these experiences?” My studies in psychotherapy helped me decipher the elements I cherished about Cannabis and the changes it brought to my well-being through the lens of the environment.

The Backroll Technique

The backroll technique is commonly employed to hand-roll s joints. It requires flipping the rolling paper inside out, positioning the gum strip towards the interior. This allows for licking through the paper and tearing off or burning, eliminating any excess paper in the finished product. Backrolling emerged as a response to concerns about potential heat intensification (potentially due to additives) resulting from smoking herbs enclosed in multiple paper layers. Backrolling a joint is an improvement on the traditional style because it minimises the amount of paper in your joint, allowing it to burn slower, more evenly, taste better and last longer.

How To Use The Papers

Place the herb onto the paper with the glue side down, slide the crutch in to the roach, roll the glue edge forward and place it flat against the inner layer, and burn off the excess paper.

It’s harder to use a smaller roach so if you’re a beginner, use a wider roach.

Like anyone, I’ve established routines throughout my life. There’s a certain way that I stap my Brito, cook my Bolognese, and roll my zoot. if im passionate about something the act of putting my mined a challenge is fun. Thereby, I have been rolling joints back strap for about 16 years of my life.

Finally, the fun part:eitheronce licked and sticked yu can bend the exsis paper at the join and lick along the fold to prevent any burn wholes or for ease of tare and or tare, burning off the excess paper. If you don’t get one clean burn, I’d say do a little touching up with the lighter, but don’t go crazy trying to get a perfectly straight seam. It’s not going to affect the way the joint burns.

Burn slower, taste better, last longer.

The Backroll method is a widely-used technique for hand-rolling cigarettes. It involves inverting the rolling paper so that the gum strip faces the inside. This allows the gum to be licked through the paper and torn off or burned, eliminating any overlapping paper. Backrolling was developed to address concerns about increased heat, potentially caused by additives, when smoking tobacco wrapped in multiple layers of paper.

Backrolling a joint is an improvement over traditional rolling methods because it reduces the amount of paper used. This results in a slower, more even burn, enhanced taste, and a longer-lasting experience. To backroll, place the weed onto the paper with the glue side down, slide the crutch in, roll the glue edge forward, paste it, and burn off the excess paper.

Using a wider roach can be easier, especially for beginners. It’s important to note that many people develop routines in their lives, including rolling joints. However, there are often better techniques available, such as backrolling, that can enhance the smoking experience.

When burning off the excess paper, aim for a clean burn. If needed, use a lighter to touch up the joint, but don’t obsess over achieving a perfectly straight seam. It won’t significantly impact how the joint burns. Embrace the Back Strap method for a slower burn, better taste, and longer-lasting joint.

What is the Give Back Programme ?

At Backstrap, we firmly believe that plant medicine, such as cannabis, is intricately connected to mental health, nature, and community. By cultivating a diverse understanding of ourselves, our psyche, and the world around us, we can establish healthy and conscious relationships with both ourselves and the environment. This process enables us to create space for self-awareness and develop a deeper comprehension of the purpose, meaning, and value that products bring into our lives and the rituals associated with them.

While some individuals consciously choose their path, others may not fully grasp the impact of their choices on their well-being. However, as we embark on a personal journey, we begin to recognize the positive contributions and potential drawbacks that plant medicine can have. This individual exploration can transcend into a collective global consciousness, fostered by a community of like-minded individuals who understand the “why” and “how” behind our actions and their origins. We strive to navigate this path in the most effective, efficient, creative, and conscious manner possible.

At Back Strap, it is our mission to align our products, community, and company ethos with the vision of creating a better planet. This commitment extends to creativity, mental health, self-development, conscious decision-making, and self-awareness. That’s why we have implemented a podcast and donation scheme where 2p from every packet is donated to a charity of your choice within the broader scope of mental health, rewilding, and forestry restoration/preservation.

To begin with, all donations will be going to Hempen Organic. Every year, we will let our community vote on the next charity to receive all donations - we’ll keep you posted!
